For SUNDAY META REVISITED, I want to discuss something that was at the back of my mind during the large gen debates that were all over LJ this past week. To me, one of the more interesting points was the way in which some gen supporters defined canon as that which *was* on screen (meaning that which *they* saw on screen, of course :) Now, I've already written my response on Interpretive Communities and fandom-created Tropes, but long before we started using the politically correct narrative language of tropes, we just called it FANON.

META REVISITED is part of [info]ethrosdemon's Sunday Meta, and today I want to talk about KINKS. Or, more specifically, I want to talk about the role of kinks in fanfiction and the role debates over kinks serve in fandom as a whole.

I want to start with a poem, that I think was read/handed out at the 2004 Escapade panel Slashing the Slasher (by [info]hesychasm and [info]geekturnedvamp): It's by [info]gwynnega (Gwynne Garfinkle) and addresses issues of erotics, writing, reading, sexuality, fantasy, the works: Ode
